This qualification is free to members again this year.
National code HLTAID011 (this incorporates HLTAID009 and HLTAID010)
Updates – Many of us completed this award combined with the BM requal two or three years ago (because it was made free by SLSA). The cert lasts 3 years, so will be running out for many people – check in Members area. SLSA has made the qual free again this season, so the plan is to do a series of 4 hr updates following the requals, i.e. during November and December. You must have a current BM to be able to update.
New awards – There will be opportunities to complete the full award for those who have never held the certificate. The first of these will be with the November Bronze quad – training Wednesday evenings 6:30 to 8pm for six weeks. The second opportunity will be a full day course in the summer break on a date to suit candidates. Please give Jeff a text to seek further info or to register.
There are always lots of questions around training, particularly if you’re new to the club. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch by phone or text.
Please register your interest for any of the above courses with Education Team Leader, Jeff Medcalf at education@albanysurfclub.com.au or call 0403 789 746.

Event Details
Each year at the beginning of the season, specifically the last weekend in Nov, the 3 south coastal surf clubs of Albany, Denmark and Esperance converge on the beach at Bremer Bay for a weekend of coaching/training/friendly competition and networking. The 3 clubs alternate the responsibility of hosting for the weekend: this year Denmark Surf Life Saving Club has the pleasure.
It offers Nippers, Youth, and Seniors an encouraging and fun environment to explore surf sports, and other opportunities for education, training and skill development. SLSWA reps will be in attendance to assist. The weekend is open to ALL club members and is a great way for new parents to get a feel for how the club operates and for Nippers to make new surf club buddies.
Bremer is a magnificent location and only 2 hours drive away so it makes for a very do-able weekend.
Generally, most club members stay in the Caravan Park nearest to the main beach. The park reserves an area of the park for clubbies but members will need to individually book their own accommodation through the park. The weekend is BYO everything. Contact Bremer Bay Caravan Park on 08 98374018 to book.
The program usually covers training on the Saturday afternoon, a BBQ and get together on the Sat night and a friendly carnival on the Sunday morning. Events wrap up around midday to allow Esperance plenty of time to travel home in daylight.

Every summer season (December – February), between the iconic red and yellow flags on our beautiful Middleton Beach, you can find our surf lifesavers and lifeguards.
Between those flags, we draw a line in the sand: everyone who crosses it should enter and leave the water safely.
Albany SLSC also extend their patrol operations beyond the red and yellow flags and provide volunteer patrolling services from Midds to Surfers beach.
Our community safety is paramount. Each season, our volunteer services deliver first aid, emergency care (including rescues) and surf safety information to the public.
All patrolling members are required to refer to the patrols rosters in their SLS Member Portal.
