| Perfect conditions greeted a buoyant field for the annual Smith Thornton Swim. With some swimmers having already completed the swim-run-board-run iron event (!), the course set deep into Ellen Cove and back, using four can turns and a long straight sprint finish. Great course Cam Martin! ..and thank you to the whole water safety team for supporting this event. Christine Murray was first across the line with a handy gap to the chase pack – bring on the Rottnest Channel Swim Christine! Collin Pass showed the benefits of a solid summer in the harbour, grinding down the fast starting blokes in the chase pack before finally eclipsing them – nice job Col! Chelsea Sobik easily accounted for all comers in the annual spot prize – great swim Chelsea – you’ve got to be in it to win it! Fantastic to see such a good spread of swimmers take part this year from our youth, seniors and masters group. See you all next year for this great event! |
