Country Champs & Carnival Weekend
We are looking forward to an exciting weekend of competition this long weekend, with the SLSWA Country Championships and Country Carnival being held at our own Club in Albany!
We have a super team of Youth and Seniors with 27 registered for the Championships and 34 registered for the Carnival ready to make the most of our home beach advantage.
For both Saturday and Sunday, please arrive at the Club by 6:15am in order to collect your board and move towards Water Arena #3 (similar location to where the water arena is on a usual club Sunday). We’ll warm up together and be ready to marshal at 6:45am for the first event at 7:00am.
All competitors will need to wear a red Surftec wristband. If you do not yet have one, please visit the SLSWA Officials Van first thing on Saturday morning to be registered for a wristband. If you have lost your first wristband you can get another one from the Officials Van although you may have to pay for it (approx. $5-$10).
Please be prepared with a good night’s sleep, club competition cap, high vis vest, red Surftec wristband, change of clothes, warm clothes, couple of towels, snacks, water, sunscreen/zinc, hats, shoes for the 2km run, money for the kiosk and lots of energy.
If you are not competing we’d still love to see you on the weekend, come and help cheer on our Club, or get involved with helping as a proxy in the marshalling areas, handling craft/boards or assisting the club in other ways such as with water safety and set up and pack up for the Bicentennial Swim on Monday. Pop a short note to youth@albanysurfclub.com.au if you’d like more info on how to be involved in the activities outside of competing.
Please remember to keep the Club space (bathrooms, common areas, board and ski areas) clean and clear this week (and take your personal items home for drying).
Good luck to all Club competitors ! You’ve trained hard this season and honed your competition skills – you are ready to give it a red hot shot.
And a big thank you to all the Youth who will be volunteering in many roles for the Club over the weekend.
