Our Youth and Seniors members hit the Rainbow Coast Carnival at Bremer Bay with a bang! From competing to officiating to water safety, being Age Group Managers and Assistants for the Nippers, helping set up and pack up and cheering on fellow competitors. This Carnival is a highlight of the season and there truly is something for everyone.
Youth started the Carnival on Friday early evening with a catchup with other Youth from Esperance and Denmark Clubs, for pizza, soft drink and a chat with SLSWA representatives about youth pathways in surf life saving. It was good to see familiar faces from the two other clubs and set the scene for healthy competition to come in the next two days.
Saturday morning was an opportunity to test board and swimming skills on a new beach, and then the waves beckoned for the keen paddlers.
All the pre-season and early morning training sessions, and fine tuning the racing skills on club days, paid off, as Albany clubbies brought the fun and racing together.
Saturday arvo saw the competition action kick in, with beach fitness and skills put to the test for the competitors, while many Youth took on officiating and supporting roles. Albany Youth and Seniors were up to the challenge and competed hard til the end.
The Sunday morning water events was a showcase of ability with our Albany Youth and Seniors showing what they do best across the surf, board and ski events plus relay competitions. It was great to see so many club youth and seniors having a go and enjoying the stunning location and conditions and mixing it up against other competitors.
The team camaraderie and support shown across the Youth and Seniors was superb plus the excellent sportsmanship demonstrated to our competitors. Well done Albany!
