Albany Surf Life Saving Club (ASLSC) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all our members who participate in our club. A Member Screening Policy has been adopted by SLSWA to enhance the positive participatory environment for its nipper and youth (18 years and under) members. The SLSWA Member Screening Policy (adopted 2018) is designed to align with current state-based legislation and ensure a best-practice approach to safeguarding children and young people in sporting environments. To ensure we have a safe environment, each club has a Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO). We are lucky to have Anna Emery, one of our Board Members who has a wealth of knowledge in this space. Anna will be the first point of call in the club for any enquiries, concerns or complaints about harassment, abuse or other inappropriate behaviour.

Child Safe Policy: ASLSC is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people who participate in our club. We support the rights of every child and will act at all times to ensure that the club is a child safe environment for children. Code of Conduct: ASLSC is committed to providing an environment in which people are treated fairly and equitably that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment and bullying. We support the rights and wellbeing of our staff and volunteers and encourage their active participation in building and maintaining a secure and safe environment for all participants. The Club regards bullying in all forms as unacceptable and have an expectation that everyone is welcoming and inclusive at all times. The ASLSC has a code of conduct applicable to all members. Working with Children: ASLSC request all members in the club are to apply and obtain a Working With Children Check as per the SLSWA Member Screening Policy prior to their membership being approved. The policy can be found here.
