Seniors go to the Irons!

by | Tue, 08 Nov 2022 | General, Surf Sports, Youth

It was another tough day in the office for our seniors and youth brigade on Sunday, with a cold stiff easterly looking none too pleasing over the brackish river fed bay water.  Even the rangefinder was having trouble finding its target!

A short sharp club swim generated plenty of enthusiasm and was followed by the first ironman event of the season.  The ski brigade was a few members short but still managed to put on an entertaining start to this punishing multi-leg event, with few managing clean starts in the choppy conditions.  The tight lead group was quickly separated in the swim (where the swim-board iron competitors joined the race), and heavy arms became apparent in the final board paddle, where even the wind-runners were hard to find for some.

A few dizzy spells on the finishing line betrayed our early season fitness levels… but we had plenty of time to work through that on the 2km run!!

Congratulations to all individual and team competitors – it was a tough but fun way to start the day and test our racing skills and endurance amongst friends.

Thanks to our sponsors BB Minicrete & Firewood Supplies.

See you on the beach next week – and start getting ready for Bremer!!
