Not only were we one of the smallest teams at states this year, we were one of the standouts… Lots of comments on the beach were for the unknown Albany Nippers, such a friendly atmosphere. Beautiful smiles and sportsmanship from all seven of our kids. On top of all their best efforts throughout the weekend, our standout performances started when:
Emelia fought for a top 8 finish in the U10 flags,
Mitchell snagged our first medal – a gutsy bronze medal for the U11 1km beach run
Our Tyla was pipped at the post to come 4th in the 1km beach run
Next was Creed to win all his heats and snag a silver medal in the U11 swim and a bronze medal in the Ironman, (even with all his painful jellyfish stingers)
Sophie and Tahlia paddled hard to gain a finals berth and came 7th in the U11 board rescue
Just before Sophie, Tessa and Tahlia swam the heats to make it through to the swim finals where they copped the wrath of bubbles from the best ocean swimmers in their age in WA
