As we are settling into the new season, this is a friendly reminder that as members of the Albany Surf Life Saving Club, we all need to take the responsibility to ensure that our club remains a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for everyone. All members are required to follow the Code of Conduct and Member Protection Polices, which include treating everyone with respect, showing kindness, ensuring everyone is safe and maintaining positive behaviour at all times. Inappropriate or offensive language, conversations or statements (even if intended as a joke), is unacceptable as it can make others feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. Racism, discrimination, or any form of bullying will not be tolerated under any circumstances. By upholding these standards, we help create a supportive and inclusive club culture where everyone can enjoy being part of the Albany Surf Life Saving Club community.
What is a Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO)? The MPIO is responsible for providing information about a person’s rights, responsibilities and options when an individual is has a concern or making a complaint. MPIOs remain impartial at all times, they do not investigate complaints or mediate. MPIO’s provide information regarding the complaints process. For grievances or complaints, members should speak with the club Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO). The MPIO will provide you with information about your rights, responsibilities and options. If after discussing the issue with the Club MPIO and you wish to lodge a formal complaint this must be done through the Surf Life Saving Reporting System. https://complaints.sls.com.au/

We are currently looking for another MPIO and a Complaints Officer for the club. There is a component of online training to complete, and the club is happy to support you through this process.
