2026 January Long Weekend – Call for your support!

Thanks again to everyone who joined us for the briefing.

Albany SLSC is hosting the SLSWA Country Championships and SLSWA Country Carnival at Middleton Beach over the January long weekend – plus the Bicentenary Swim. It’s going to be huge and we need all hands on deck!

What’s On:

  • Friday 23 Jan – Family Movie Night
  • Saturday 24 Jan (AM) – Country Championships
  • Saturday 24 Jan (PM) – Country Carnival (Nipper & Youth/Open – Beach)
  • Sunday 25 Jan (AM) – Country Carnival (Surf Boats, Little Nippers, Nipper & Youth/Open – Ocean)
  • Monday 26 Jan – Bicentenary Swim

Volunteer Jobs – Where You Can Help

Here’s a snapshot of the roles we need covered across the weekend:

  • Social Events – Planning, set up and pack up; Family Film Night; Wrap Up Party
  • Canteen – Menu planning, ordering, food prep, rostering across four busy days
  • Bar – Open Fri PM, Sat PM & Sun PM (RSA or Bar Manager’s licence required)
  • Water Safety – Saturday AM & Sunday AM (IRBs, jetskis.. The ususal!)
  • Water Arena Set Up – Learn the ropes of setting up an SLSWA event!
  • First Aid Station – Rostered cover for both carnivals (Bronze Med or First Aid qualification needed)
  • Officials – Gain valuable carnival experience (SLSWA online training may apply)
  • Beach Access, Set Up & Pack Down – Arenas, signage, marquees, sponsor displays, traffic management
  • House Tidy – Keep clubrooms and facilities in order (toilet paper, bins, general tidy-ups)
  • Media – Snap photos, capture stories, help with website/social media write-ups
  • Bicentenary Swim – Course set up, registrations, water safety, photos and much much more!
