Thank you to all members who attended the 2025 Annual General Meeting on Friday 25th July. It was a significant moment for our Club. A chance to reflect on the year that’s been, recognise the contributions of those stepping down, and look ahead to what’s next.
Anna Emery was formally elected as our new President, following the completion of Sarah Bowles’ term in the role. As Anna moved from Vice President to nominate, that position became vacant.
We would like to acknowledge:
- Carl Richardson, who completed his one-year term as Director, having served the Board across multiple seasons with calm, strategic insight and a strong sense of purpose.
- Ainslie Western, who completed a full two-year term as Administration Director, contributing to the stability and smooth running of club operations.
- Sarah Bowles, who has completed a one- year term as President to help drive the redevelopment and move back into the Club which was a mammoth task to coordinate as well as ensuring the day to day running of the club ran smoothly.
We thank them for their leadership, commitment, and many years of service.
Blue Field remains in the role of Finance Director, now entering the second year of his elected term.
With only two confirmed Directors following the AGM, the Board did not meet quorum. In accordance with Clause 20.3 of the ASLSC Constitution, the remaining Directors met on Thursday 31st July for the purpose of restoring quorum through the appointment of additional Directors.
We are pleased to confirm the following appointments:
- Rebecca Stephens – Vice President
- Sarah Bowles – Board-Appointed Director
A further Board meeting was held on Monday 4th August 2025 and appointed a new Administration Director and General Director.
We’re thrilled to announce two important additions to our leadership team:
- Jillian Seigert has been appointed as Administration Director
- Chris Stan-Bishop has been appointed as General Director
These appointments reflect our continued focus on strong governance, community involvement, and building a vibrant future for Albany SLSC.

Capacity, Connection & The Season Ahead
This year’s limited nominations and overall member feedback highlighted a reality we can’t ignore: people are stretched, and many are feeling the load. The 2025 Member Survey echoed this sentiment. We have a strong pride and community spirit, but clear signals of volunteer fatigue and the need for renewed connection and engagement.
We’re not underestimating the work ahead. But the good news is, we’ve done a lot of groundwork! The Club now has the solid foundation it’s worked hard for! A new facility, a clear strategy, financial stability, and an exciting year ahead.
What we need now is to rebuild our people power — by sharing responsibility and bringing more hands, voices, and energy into the mix.
How You Can Get Involved
It takes a village to run a club like ours and we’re incredibly lucky to have so many passionate, capable people already giving their time to make things happen.
There are countless ways to get involved, from leadership and patrols to coaching, helping out at carnivals and social events, supporting the canteen or bar, managing equipment, or working behind the scenes in registrations, comms, or media. The list is big!
Some roles are regular and structured. Others are ad hoc, short-term, or as simple as showing up when help is needed. Whatever your skills, interests, or availability, there’s a place for you.
You don’t need experience, just a willingness to step in, give it a go, and be part of the team.
If you’re keen to help, please reach out. Speak to a Board Member, connect with your Team Leader, or simply let us know where you’d like to pitch in. Every bit of support makes a difference and helps ensure our club remains strong, inclusive, and thriving.
