What a fabulous day we had at the beach for the Fuel to Go and Play Great Southern Nipper Championships. Conditions were absolutely perfect, although slightly wavier waves would have been nice!
A total of 86 competitors in age groups U8 to U13 from Albany, Denmark and Esperance-Goldfields Surf Lifesaving Clubs gathered to try their personal best on the sand and in the water. Nippers from Under 10’s and up were competing for a place in the State Nipper Championships, which will be held at Trigg Beach on the 1st of March for beach events and the 2nd-3rd March for the ocean events.
A huge thank you to the amazing team of volunteers who worked to organise the event beforehand, those who set up (and in the case of the sprint track – also packed up) the beach and water events, officiated and provided water safety. Thank you to our fabulous life members who were on hand to present medals – apologies – some of the kid’s celebrations were pretty loud! And to our wonderful Age Group Managers and Assistants who escorted all the Nippers through the events – providing enthusiasm, advice and encouragement.
Results will be published next week once the positions are finalised.
