Its been a huge start to the new year in Surf Sports and for club activity in general!
With a busy schedule coming up over the next few months jammed with carnivals, club events and preparations to move back into the clubhouse, its worth taking a quick pause to reflect on some of the key outcomes and milestones achieved over the last month, and acknowledge the hard work of our volunteer teams who have come together to help deliver them.
- Firstly, we should recognise the level of Participation across weekly Sunday activities, training and club events has been a noticeable highlight in all age groups from Nippers right through to Seniors, and the ‘have a go’ attitude, commitment to fair play and teamwork, fun and friendship, competitive edge, and dedication to training and hard work, are all shining through. Keep up the awesome work!
- The New Years Eve Swim saw out 2024 in style, enjoying a huge competitor turnout, engaging a giant volunteer team effort, and receiving rave reviews from competitors and spectators. See the full report in previous newsletters!
- Returning from a short and sharp 2 week break, the club quickly remobilised, accelerating yet again toward the Great Southern Regional Championships hosted on Saturday 18 at our home beach at Midds. We enjoyed a great morning with our friends from Esperance and Denmark, and ran a smooth and highly professional state qualifier carnival with the full support of club teams from Nippers/Surf Sports, Water Safety, Officials, Lifesaving/Patrols, Media and Events, our amazing Life Members and of course the Board. See the full report in this newsletter from our Nippers team!
- Back to the beach the very next morning, with some backing up some long water safety stints and big jobs at the Nipper Champs, our Youth & Seniors managed to squeeze in both a lively team relay session and weekly Club Swim, before being joined by the effervescent Nippers group for the inaugural Budget Cup Beach Long Run. Congratulations to all runners, and it was great to see Warren from our Principal Sponsor Budget Albany on the beach and making his way around to each age group to present awards and certificates. A Nipper Coaching Clinic rounded out another great morning for the club, which was made all the more special with the presence of our travelling club guests.
