The new season may officially begin on the beach this Sunday, but let’s be honest — the work never really stops! Months of planning and preparation have gone into delivering what’s set to be an incredible season.
It’s Been a Busy Time
- Board meetings, team planning sessions, and the creation of our season calendar.
- Team information nights to get everyone geared up.
- Redevelopment project management and the Move Back In Working Group, laying the foundation for a smooth transition once timelines are confirmed.
But Wait, There’s is More!
- Registrations: Renewal and new member registrations have kept us on our toes. A massive thank you to the Member Services team for managing it all!
- Redevelopment Progress: Huge effort from our project lead since the beginning — it’s coming together beautifully and really is looking awesome!
- Emergency Response Support: Our operations team is always on standby, ready to assist external agencies with an emergency.
- Youth Camp Success: The return of the Youth Camp was a hit, thanks to the hard work of the key members of the surf sports, education, and lifesaving teams. They have guided our U14 and U15 members ready to start the season feeling energised, informed, and upskilled.
- Innovative Requals: The Education team delivered two weekends of requalification sessions, earning fantastic feedback.
- Patrols Are Ready to Go: Patrol teams are motivated and excited to kick off their voluntary service.
- Proficiency Swims Completed: Last Sunday, 90% of our Nippers, youth, and seniors completed their proficiency swims at ALAC. A big shoutout to the Woodside Nippers team for making it happen!
- Sundowner Season Opener: We wrapped up the weekend style with the Sundowner at Three Anchors, thanks to our Events team.
To many, it might feel like this is just Week 1, but behind the scenes, key volunteers have already put in the hard work to ensure we are off to a strong start.
A Heartfelt Thank You
On behalf of the Board, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to every volunteer who has contributed so far. Your dedication and passion are what make this club such a thriving community that we are all proud to be part of.
Special thanks goes to those who have already dedicated countless hours this season across Member Services, Lifesaving, Education, Surf Sports, Events, House, and the Redevelopment Project — you know who you are. You are the driving force of this club.
Get Involved
As we officially launch the 2024/2025 season, I’m calling on all members to step up and help make a difference. Our club runs on the energy and commitment of volunteers, but we need to build our capacity and keep the momentum going.
There are so many ways to get involved, with a variety of roles across all operational teams:
- Team members, results coordinators and communication support
- Trainers, assessors, and facilitators for education and requalification
- Patrol members emergency responders, and water safety teams
- Coaches, officials, event organisers, bar staff, and canteen helpers
- Media, communications, website support, and social media
- Grant writers, fundraisers, merchandise support, and equipment managers
- Transport coordinators, beach set up and pack down crew
There’s a role for everyone. Together, we can continue building a vibrant, successful club.
This is a call to action. So go on — get involved! Speak to a team leader, board member, or any club member who looks like they know what they’re doing, and we’ll support you every step of the way.
