** Urgent update: Mandatory online requirement for Bronze requal this year **

Bronze online requirement

SLSA has determined that we all need to complete the Sexual Harassment online course as a part of our BM requals this year. If you haven’t completed the course, we won’t be able to process your requal.

Go to Members Area; eLearning; Training library; Safety and wellbeing; Sexual harassment. It’ll take 10 – 15 mins.

Pain Management – October 11

Pain Management requires your First Aid Cert and your ART award. Don’t worry if you don’t have them, when they’re current we can sign-off your PM (see below).

The course is advanced first aid training in the use of methoxyflurane (the green whistle) for pain management. We will have this therapy available after our renovations, so we’ll need qualified clubbies. Please give Jeff a text to seek further info or to register. Friday evening, October 11, 6 – 9pm. Pizza offered as a bribe to attend Prerequisite is the first aid certificate.

Advanced Resus Techniques (ART) – October 12

This qualification incorporates the use of oxygen therapy and other advanced patient management training. A first Aid certificate is required, but don’t worry, we can sign you off once your first aid is current (see below). We need some people on each patrol to have these skills. Please give Jeff a text to seek further info or to register. Saturday afternoon October 12, noon – 3pm at Quaranup.

Skills Maintenance (Requals) – October 20 or October 26

Two opportunities October 20 and 26. 8:30 am for ART, 9 am for IRB, Bronze and SRC.

This year you’ll be completing the requal with one partner, so if you have someone in mind, they need to book the same start time as you – if not, you’ll be paired-up on the day. Registrations will be open in Members area, on or by, next weekend. Members area; eLearning; training event; choose a date. Please complete the Sexual Harassment online training prior to your requal.

First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011)

This qualification is free to members again this year.

National code HLTAID011 (this incorporates HLTAID009 and HLTAID010)

Updates – Many of us completed this award combined with the BM requal two or three years ago (because it was made free by SLSA). The cert lasts 3 years, so will be running out for many people – check in Members area. SLSA has made the qual free again this season, so the plan is to do a series of 4 hr updates following the requals, i.e. during November and December. You must have a current BM to be able to update.

New awards – There will be opportunities to complete the full award for those who have never held the certificate. The first of these will be with the November Bronze quad – training Wednesday evenings 6:30 to 8pm for six weeks. The second opportunity will be a full day course in the summer break on a date to suit candidates. Please give Jeff a text to seek further info or to register.

There are always lots of questions around training, particularly if you’re new to the club. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch by phone or text.

Please register your interest for any of the above courses with Education Team Leader, Jeff Medcalf at education@albanysurfclub.com.au or call 0403 789 746.
