Bronze and SRC

Last week, emails were sent to junior members who are eligible to begin these qualifications. All members are now asked to register for this year’s course. Both courses begin with the proficiency swim on October 13, followed by face-to-face training beginning at the start of November.

  • SRC proficiency swim 200m in 5 mins

Pain Management

Training and Skills Maintenance for this award will be held Friday evening October 11.

With the completion of the Club renovations, it is intended to add the ‘green whistle’ Pain Management strategy to our first aid regime. If you’ve done the training before, or would like to add this to your repertoire, please put this date into your diary. Prerequisite is the first aid certificate.

IRB

There will be a single course conducted in January this season. It will provide training for both Crew and Driver awards. Please indicate your interest in this training as numbers may be limited. You may begin your theory training at any time – see courses in Members Area, eLearning, Training Library.

Prerequisites:

  • Crew – BM
  • Driver – Crew Award and Skipper’s Ticket

Trainers and Assessors

The annual TAF PL weekend is October 11-13. Program and venue TBC.

Mandatory Skills Maintenance theory to be completed by IRB trainers – see Members Area, eLearning, TAF PL.

First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011)

This qualification is free to members again this year.

There will be many members whose qualification is expiring this year. Following BM requals there will be a number of 4 hr update opportunities, so keep an eye out in the Rip for advertised dates over summer.

There will also be a couple of full courses conducted throughout the season. The first one will be in conjunction with the November Bronze course.

There are always lots of questions around training, particularly if you’re new to the club. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch by phone or text.

Please register your interest for any of the above courses with Education Team Leader, Jeff Medcalf at education@albanysurfclub.com.au or call 0403 789 746.
