Nine nippers headed to the big smoke to represent Albany Surf Life Saving club at SunSmart State Nipper Championships in Scarborough. All competitors worked super hard to qualify for states, but that was just the beginning! They had to bring their A game to compete against some very fierce opposition and they certainly did on both the beach and water events. Friday night saw some awesome action in the sprint and flags arena.
On Saturday and Sunday the swell was big, but that was nothing compared to the size of the grit and determination on display from the Albany crew. Everyone who hit the water was so brave as they were pummelled by some big waves but there were some fantastic demonstrations of the high level of skill our Albany Nippers possess. Team Albany qualified for finals in both individual and team events. If only the spectators were as brave as the competitors.
