Open Day:

Thanks to everyone who came down on the OPEN DAY we had a lot of new Woodside Nippers come down to register.

We will be sending out emails in the next few weeks regarding the up coming season and what you need to know.

If you haven’t registered, please get online and register, this will help us planning for the season. It is important to register before Preliminary Evaluations, more details about this below. Click here to register!

AGM Course:

We had great number of AGM and AGA attended the course with Dave Sommers from Surf Life Saving WA. 

Thanks to everyone that attended we are getting ready for an amazing season on the Beach.

Important Dates for the Calendar:

  • Come and Try Day –24th October from 9-10am

Nippers can come down and we will have some fun beach activities for those to get involved in. 

We won’t be able to do water-based activities as Woodside Nippers have not completed the proficiency swim so therefore not covered by insurance.

  • Proficiency Swim at ALAC – 31st October see below for times depending on your age group 
    • Please bring your child to the pool in the allocated time as there will be lots of children needing to do the swim and we only have 5 lanes to do the assessments.
    • Please enter through the side door near the hockey parking and head up and sit in grandstand in your age groups 
    • Nipper Coordinator will then do a welcome and then AGM’s will have to time to talk to group before entering the water 
    • Children will be assessed see attached criteria 
    • You will receive your Woodside Nippers pack after the swim and a parent information session

U6 From a standing position in waist deep water, perform a front glide and recover to a secure position.
Perform a back or front float holding a buoyant aid and recover to a secure position.
U7From a standing position in waist deep water, perform a front glide, kick for 3m and recover to a secure position.
Perform a back or front float for a few seconds and recover to a secure position.
U8 25m swim (any stroke)
1 minute survival float
U925m swim (any stroke)
1 minute survival float
U10 25m swim (freestyle)
1.5 minute survival float
U11 50m swim (freestyle)
2 minute survival float
U12 100m swim (freestyle)
2 minute survival float
U13 150m swim (freestyle)
3 minute survival float

First Woodside Nippers Day – 7th November Middleton Beach 

Registrations need to be completed before the first day on the beach and it is a requirement that all Woodside Nippers have completed the Preliminary Evaluations. Please ensure that you have joined or renewed your membership.

On the first day on the beach, make sure you have your:

  • Woodside Nipper hat and colour skull cap
  • high-vis vest over bathers
  • goggles (if you need)
  • sunscreen on
  • towel
  • water bottle

Training 

Traditionally we have done all our training on Tuesday night with Sprint Training running from 4 -5pm and Board Training from 5 – 6pm. 

We are looking at possibly changing things up with the days and times that we do training….

Coaches are needed for:

  • Swim 
  • Board 
  • Beach

Swimming Training Opportunity

This season I am excited to say that we are having swimming training at ALAC for Nippers U8 – U13 

Wednesday 7am – 8 am commencing 10th November – 15th December 

Friday 7am – 8am commencing 5th November – 17th December 

We will be asking people to register if they are going to attend and more information will be released on how to do this.

This is new this year for the Woodside Nipper program we are going to trial using for communication and information regarding nippers.

New week an email will be sent out asking you to download app and join if you are to do this that will be great.
