Country Carnival- Back Beach, Bunbury.
Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th January 2021.
Not long now until our team will be heading to Bunbury for all the exciting surf sports action of Country Carnival!
This competition has no pre-qualifiers and we are hoping to have a big team. What this means is, all members in Nippers (Under 8s and older), Youth, Seniors and Boaties are eligible to compete.
All ASLSC team members who are planning on competing at Country Carnival must submit their registration form and full payment this Sunday 17th January. Registrations can be made at the uniform shop in the junior area during Nippers.
At this stage, the program and entry fees are still being finalised by SLSWA. We cannot accept entries until this has happened. We anticipate the Entry fee to about $20 per competitor.
Please also understand that late entries will not be accepted and if your entry fee has not been paid by Sunday morning, you will not be registered for the carnival.
All parents/ competitors are required to have WhatsApp on their phone. All communication about the carnival will be via the Rip and after the RIP has been published, communication will be via WhatsApp. You will be added to the WhatsApp chat once your registration is complete.
Gear Pick up
All families need to transport the gear that they are borrowing from the club to the carnival in their own vehicle. Board pick-up will take place at the end of board training on Tuesday 19th January from 5:45 – 6:00 pm. Greg Peppal (our board captain) will record the item you are borrowing prior to taking the gear. If you need help transporting the gear you are borrowing, please ask Greg to assist you with finding someone to help with this. If you have not previously transported a board, ask Greg how to safely do so in order to avoid damage.
Please note that all gear borrowed must be returned to the club during board training on Tuesday 26th January by 3:45 pm to enable club members to use the gear for training that evening.
The program overview for the weekend is listed on the above flyer. Please note that U8s and U9s are only competing on Saturday, but you are welcome to come and cheer our team on throughout the rest of the weekend! It really is exciting to watch the action.
A full program will be released by SLSWA this week (hopefully) and will be displayed in next week’s Rip, all going to plan. The full program will also be posted to the WhatsApp Chat.
Please be aware that Nippers in U8s and U9s, need to arrive on the beach ready to warm up 30minutes before the event start time.
Nippers (U10s and older), Youth and Seniors should all plan to be on the beach ready for warm-up 1hr before the event start time on Saturday and Sunday.
What to bring on Carnival day
As far as packing goes, in addition to the gear you are borrowing, don’t forget you will need an ASLSC competition cap and comps or nipper vest. As this carnival is a marshaled competition, you will also be required to wear your long sleeve Nipper/ Club shirt while in the marshaling area. Also pack all your normal Surf Club gear- swimwear, wetsuit, goggles and hat.
Plan to bring to the beach each day, plenty of healthy snacks and water (at least 2L), sunscreen and warm clothes for between events. More info: firstname.lastname@example.org
